Lois Cumber
President from 1994-1998

Charmette Lois Cumber is a Charter Member of the Richmond Metropolitan Chapter. Charmette Cumber exhibits a deep dedication and commitment to the Chapter, which is evidence in the service she has given. She served two terms, each, as President and Vice-Present. Currently, she serves as the Chapter Treasurer. She is the Chapter’s former Community Service Manager, ensuring that the needs of the community are recognized and addressed.

The Chapter installed Charmette Cumber President in August 1994. At the end of Charmette Cumber's tenure, eleven new members had joined the Chapter. The Chapter held its first Harvest Ball, and spring Musical Benefit. She was also a co-chairperson in implementing the Chapter’s first retreat and cancer forum.

Charmette Cumber's leadership expertise as Community Service Manager reinforced the Chapter’s focus on the Adopt-A-Child Program, and to branch out to lend support to the VCU Massey Cancer Center (ASK) Program, the AARP Health Fair, and the Central Virginia Food Bank. She also organized Cancer Health Forums with Howard University Cancer Research Center.

A native of Florida, Charmette Cumber received her early education in the West Palm Beach Public Schools. She received Bachelor and Master degrees in Social Work from Howard University. She retired from her career in social work in 1996. Charmette Cumber is a , member of Delta Sigma Theta and the Delta House Foundation
